Duisburg swimming club of 1898 ( DSV98 )

DSV98 is a sports club in Duisburg and one of the oldest swimming clubs. The club area is located in sports park Duisburg-Wedau and includes a swimming pool as well as the possibility to swim in the lake, a volleyball field, a big relaxing lawn and a playground for small kids.

In the outdoor swimming season there are, in addition to swimming, many other possiblities to do sports, for example aquajogging and qi gong ( club members can join for free, others can book these courses at the Sportbildungswerk ).

The club also offers swimming classes for children at different indoor pools in Duisburg.

Swimming classes for adults are offered by Sportbildungswerk. The trainer is also a member of DSV98.

DSV98 also has a notable aquapolo team playing in the Bundesliga. The team was German champion in the years 1939, 1940, 1941, 1952, 1958, 1961 und 1962.

Language café Duisburg

The language cafe is a place where people, new or not so new in town who are looking for new friends get together. There is always one group who is speaking German and another group who is speaking English. Other languages, of course, are welcome, too.The German-speaking crowd mainly consists of people who are new in the country and want to practise German also outside their German classes and Germans who are interested in these international meetings but don’t speak any foreign language. The English speaking crowd mainly consists of people from Germany and other countries who want to practise their English. Sometimes there are also native speakers. We meet every 1st Tuesday and every 3rd Thursday of the month, and you may join whenever you like and if you have to come later or leave earlier – also no problem!

Duisburg Neudorf Hiking Group

The Duisburg hiking group results from the neighbourhood page nebenan.de when a group of neighbours got together for a hiking tour around six-lakes-area in Duisburg-Wedau.

Since then, we regularly organise hiking tours in Duisburg and neary places ( Mülheim, Moers, Essen… ), usually on Sundays. They are announced on nebenan.de and Facebook and they are open for everyone ( not exclusively nebenan.de-members ).

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
